Interesting fact

Fifty-seven percent of hiring managers [said] unattractive candidates are likely to have a harder time landing a job, while more than half advised spending as much time and money on ‘making sure they look attractive' as on perfecting a résumé.

When it comes to women, apparently, flaunting our assets works: 61 percent of managers (the majority of them men) said it would be an advantage for a woman to wear clothing showing off her figure at work.

How do you feel about this last statement ladies?

  1. About your first point, I completely understand why employers care about appearance. Somebody who is dressed like a slob is perceived as less likely to care as much about the job.
As far as the women wearing clothes that show their figure, I'm not that surprised by this. A lot of women's business clothes (business suits, pencil skirts, etc.) do show a women's figure. So this is an integrated part of our business world.

  2. These statistics don't surprise me, but they still make me mad. I don't see why women who are more confident about their resume than their bodies should have to worry about "fixing themselves up" to compete with other women who may not be as equipped for the job.

And quite frankly, I feel like it's degrading for woman to have to use their "assets" to advance/protect their careers, after the equal amount of work they've put in to obtain their degrees and fill their resumes.
