WK 12: Catching up with Thomas Beatie

So, I'm sure we all remember "The Pregnant Man" (Thomas Beatie). Well, he's made it back to the media with "‘Pregnant Man’ Thomas Beatie Reveals Plans to Get Hysterectomy" (Read more: http://newsfeed.time.com/2011/11/01/pregnant-man-thomas-beatie-reveals-plans-to-get-hysterectomy/#ixzz1czkIJQQQ) and http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2055307/I-want-hysterectomy-Pregnant-Man-Thomas-Beatie-reveals-giving-birth-days-over.html)

When we first read and analyzed Thomas Beaties's situation, I felt like he was honestly standing up for what he believed in. And, I also still believe its fine for him to live his life as a man and have children. However, there is something about how he carries himself that I don't like. I don't question his personal decisions (i.e. being transgender, becoming pregnant, wanting a hysterectomy), but I do question his constant need for publicity. This are all personal issues that don't need to be all over the media. I would understand if he was trying to defend himself or be an advocate for other people in his situation, but it seems to me that those are not his reasons. According to the articles, he's bankrupt and he's tried to be on other shows, so it makes me feel as he is only seeking publicity for financial purposes. And this just makes me sad.

Do any of you guys still feel and sympathy for Thomas Beatie?
