What intrigued me is not the religious aspects but rather the social views of gender. As quoted from the article
"According to one believer, Stacy, God is identified in the masculine because He is a 'protector and master.'"
What Stacy doesn't take into account is that if god truly is the creator of everything on Earth, then he certainly didn't create something as human and unpure (as an agnostic, I am not trying to convert anyone xD) as social stereotypes and gender roles. To associate "protector and master" with masculinity is entirely human and doesn't even begin to touch on the complexities of god. What it does do however, is show just how deep gender views have been carved into people's minds, to associate a divine being with something socially constructed.
Of course, I've never bothered studying religion so please excuse my shallow definition of religious complexities.
