After reading last weeks NewsWeek article I got a little curious about fetal surgery so I looked it up, and this is what I found:

I think these technological advances are amazing! But, as I was reading, I began wondering about how religious believes could interfere with these advancements.
Although fetal surgery can safe and improve lives, it may be seen as interfering with "God's creations". So, my question is: does any religion oppose these surgeries?
Paola, although I cannot speak for other religions, I can say that the Catholic Church heavily opposes these technological advances. My family is a firm believer of "God's creations". Thus, from experience, I can conclude that most believers frown at the idea of "perfecting" a child. They believe that God creates every baby to his image, and if the baby is born with a disorder, then it was God's decision to do so. To Catholics, there is no such thing as an "imperfect baby." There is only the idea that God is the sole creator of all life and his infinite power should not be disturbed.
